This is great for skiing. Like all balaclavas it gets damp from your breathing but Phunkshun seem to dry more quickly than any others I've tried. It will freeze up if you pull it down for a run on colder days, but unfreezes pretty quick when you pull it back up. I has two layers so it blocks wind pretty well, not super thick so maybe not the best for the coldest days. Pretty cool that it's made with recycled water bottles too. I do have an older version as well and this new one is a bit shorter in length which I like because it doesn't bunch around the neck too much.

Owned many different balaclava is my time, from Smartwool buff to off-brand to under-armor. This is so far my favorite. It’s warm, doesn’t seem to have the tendency to stretch out like the others all did after a few minutes of wear. As a result, it stays in place over my face better. I like that it’s doubled up as I think this will have less of a tendency to freeze over when the temp drops low enough to freeze the moisture in your breath.
